Blog Entry Guidelines:
Over the course of the semester you must create at least 10 blog entries that respond to that week’s readings. See the Course Schedule for due dates. These blog entries can come in all shapes and sizes but I will be looking for some specific qualities:
- Entries should consist of at least one visual and 3-4 paragraphs of writing.
- Writing must be appropriate for a 300-level English course (good grammar, spelling, and punctuation and an educated level of academic inquiry)
- If you use a web-source for photos, additional media, quoted text, or any other source material you must cite the source and link to it.
Creating a Blog:
Use one of the following services to create a blog for your posts. Your blog may get a significant amount of traffic, so it would be worth your time to create posts that you’re proud of. If you want to be a writer, this is a great way to get at least a small bit of exposure.
You can use any of the following:
I won’t repeat the instructions for how to set up a blog on each of these sites. One of the reasons I’m asking you to use these sites is that they are all vetted, tried and true blogging platforms with great instructions for new users. WordPress.com is probably the most difficult, but most versatile, Blogger is easier to understand but less flexible, and Tumblr is relatively easy but not very flexible. Of course, that’s my opinion, and you may find that you have a different one! Try any of them on for size and email me the link to your site!
