Hello!  My name is Martha Whitman, I am a senior at UAF pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Rural Development.  I also work full time as  a Tribal Operations Specialist for the Association of Village Council Presidents.  I am a mother of three growing boys and four fur babies.  I enjoy crafting, subsistence activities, music, and basketball.  I am looking forward to learning more about the Literature of Alaska and the Yukon this semester!

Hi my name is Sherri Johnson and I really hope I’m doing this right as I have never done this kind of thing before. Blogging is completely foreign to me. I was born and raised in Wichita Kansas. I am the mother of 4 children ranging in age from 24-17. I’m 54 and this is my third attempt to graduate and my 4th university. I started out years ago my major was art but when I found myself in a small border town in Texas 4 years ago the major was not available so I switched to History and minoring in Psychology. I have lived in a number of states including Kansas, Oklahoma (for majority of my life), Iowa, Tennessee, Alaska, Texas and now here I am again in Alaska. Guess I really like it here as I have returned. I’m looking forward to this class as well as my history and anthropology classes on Alaska and my social psychology class I look forward also to getting to know all of you better through these blogs.
